Finger Splint Kit


Finger injuries, including fractures, sprains, burns and dislocations, are among the most common injuries in the world. In many of these cases, finger splints are the preferred treatment technique. This kit contains 6 different styles of customizable, 3D-printable finger splints as well as flexible fastening straps.




Asthma is becoming a major health issue in many developing countries. To treat this condition, asthma inhalers are used to deliver medication to the lungs. However, some of the drug can get deposited in the mouth/throat, thus reducing the amount of medication delivered to the lungs. This can be overcome with the use of a inhaler spacer. Our 3D printed spacer provides a cheap solution.



Laryngoscopes are a rigid medical device used to examine the vocal cords and glottis during tracheal intubation to provide a definite airway for the administration of general anaesthesia, whenever controlled ventilation is needed. They are also commonly used for visualisation during other procedures involving the larynx and upper tracheobronchial tree.




The oropharyngeal airway or guedel is a commonly used airway adjunct in unconscious patients, used to quickly and effectively maintain or open the patient’s airways by preventing the tongue from covering the epiglottis. The oropharyngeal airway extends from the lips to the pharynx of the patient and its correct use can be life-saving.

Neck brace


A neck brace or cervical collar is a medical device which is used to hold the neck. This device is very useful to help recover the patient from traumatic head or neck injuries. The brace will help patients in disaster situations to avoid further injuries and to be transported safely to the hospital.




Pocket masks are widely used to deliver rescue breaths during cardiac or respiratory arrest by exhaling air through a one-way valve to the patient’s lungs. It is commonly used in resuscitation, in between chest compressions by one rescuer and can be life-saving.




A scalpel is a small, bladed medical device used for surgery and dissection that incises the tissue with minimal damage. In a scenario where traumas and air-blocked ways are the main symptoms scalpels may save lives by being used in surgeries or procedures to help open the airways.



Developing countries account for 97% of world population growth. In 2014, there were 4.3 births per second. After birth, the umbilical cord has to be clamped in order to stop the blood flow. We offer a low-cost, easy to print and use umbilical cord clamp that can help equip the hospitals anywhere in the world.



PET is an abundant source of potentially recyclable material. Using a four stage process, we have managed to obtain 3D-printable filament from PET bottles. The bottle stripper, made of readily available materials found anywhere in the world, has the capability to turn most large plastic bottles into one long strip. This allows for further processing in order to create 3D printable filament from the recycled plastic. There is also a 3D printed version available for download.


Triage Tri-Tool


The triage tri-tool is a novel tool providing three essential functions to surgeons. The main modality of the tool works as a needle-holder, and simple changes in conformation allows it to function as a surgical retractor and an arterial, or general surgical clamp (with a separate blocking mechanism). It is 18cm long, fast-printable and has ambidexterity. The tool provides high grip for the medical professional.

Surgical Kit


The idea to design and realize our 3D-printed surgical kit arises from the need to provide surgeons with functional, easy-to-use and low cost tools for emergency and general surgeries in crisis zones. The design of the tools was carefully enhanced throughout the project to ensure functionality and ergonomics.
The kit is composed of three tools:
• Scalpel
• Forceps
• Retractor

Haemostatic Clamp


Spring loaded haemostatic clamp to stop traumatic bleeding, designed for one-hand use with an intuitive locking mechanism. Seals the wound simply by the application of pressure, while not piercing the skin. Bleeding is stopped due to the formation of a blood clot.


3D-Printed LEns


Lenses have a variety of medical uses. Simple 3x-5x magnifying lenses can be used by dermatologists and GPs to inspect skin lesions and the insides of bodily cavities while more complex aspheric lenses and even lens arrays are used in everything from bronchoscopy (an invasive camera-based imaging of the lungs) and endoscopy (an invasive camera-based imaging of the GI tract) to fundoscopy (examining the eye) and otoscopy (examining the ear.)



Specula are medical devices used for looking inside bodily cavities. The vaginal speculum is widely used and a vital component of the pelvic exam and pap smear.



The stethoscope is a medical device whose function is to provide a accurate measure of the heart rate, the lungs and abdomen sounds. This device is one of the most basic tools a doctor needs in a disaster area since it helps the clinician to give a quick diagnose about the patient saving time and resources.




Tweezers (also known as "thumb forceps") is a medical device which is used to pick up small objects that cannot be picked with the hand or to hold objects while the hands are performing another task. It is a must-to-have in a first responders kit in order to perform surgery or to help in the suture process making it faster and more precise.

Reflex hammers are medical devices used to test deep tendon reflexes. Reflex tests are performed as part of the neurological examination and help to identify anomalies in the neural circuits involved in generating the reflex. Our designed reflex hammers are able to elicit a broad range of reflexes and have a production cost around ten times lower than the price of commercial neurological reflex hammers available on the market.
